Towns

Every town we cover in Medina County

Towns here don’t all get their water from the same place. Find yours below.

What we do about it here

Four different waters serve this county. Advice that fits one is wrong for the other three. So the first question is never about equipment.

  1. We ask whose water

City, Wadsworth, the southern district or your own well. It changes every later answer.

  2. Wadsworth is still hard

The city softens it and what comes out is still very hard. Its own study says so.

  3. Your well isn’t the county

The rock changes township to township here, so a neighbour tells you nothing.

  4. Nobody checked your chemistry

The county sample is for bacteria only. It never looked at what fouls your fixtures.

Where we work in Medina County

Medina, Brunswick, Wadsworth, Chippewa Lake, Westfield, Litchfield, Chatham, Sharon, York, Spencer and Homer. More of this county drinks from a private well than any other county we serve. So more of our work here starts with a lab result.

Wikipedia covers the towns and history. The Medina County Health Department has a page on private drinking water, which matters in a county with this many wells.

Medina County, Ohio. We cover all of it.

Two wells a few miles apart can behave nothing alike

The geology splits the county roughly down the middle. Sandstone dominates around Sharon and Wadsworth. Shale dominates out toward Litchfield, Chatham, York and Westfield. Shale wells are poor producers, and the state says so plainly.

What fits

The systems Medina County homes usually need

What you need depends on which of the four supplies reaches your house. So the test comes first and the quote comes second.

  • Two tall black tanks side by side, one holding amber resin and one holding pale filter media, with a smaller third tank to the right.

    Dual Tank — Well Water

Well water is its own problem. A city-water system does nothing for it.

  • Whole-Home UV Purifier

Ultraviolet light treats water as it comes into your home, so every tap is covered.

  • 5-Stage Tank Reverse Osmosis

A traditional reverse osmosis system with a storage tank.

Fill in the form at the top of this page or call us. We set a time that suits you and confirm it.

Is the water test really free in Medina County?

Yes. The test is free, and you keep the numbers whether you buy anything or not.

Wadsworth softens its own water. Do I still need a softener?

Probably. This is the most common wrong assumption in the county. Wadsworth does soften centrally. Its own engineering study measured what comes out the other side, and it’s still very hard. The city isn’t doing a bad job. Full softening costs more than the plant spends now. But the water reaching your house hasn’t finished the journey.

Where does city of Medina water come from?

Lake Erie. The city has bought it from the Avon Lake plant since 2002. So a Medina city address drinks water treated in another county. It behaves nothing like the well water a few miles south.

My well was tested by the county. Am I covered?

For bacteria, yes. For anything else, no. The county health department states that its private water sample is tested for bacteria only and not for chemical content. Orange staining, crusty faucets and a water heater that dies early all come from things that test never looked at — hardness, iron, manganese and sulfur aren’t in it.

Why is my well so different from my neighbour’s?

Because the rock under you probably is. This county sits on sandstone in some townships and shale in others. The state calls the shale areas a poor water source. Depth, yield and chemistry all follow from that. None of it respects property lines.

Who installs the system?

Installed by a licensed professional.
