Stow buys its water from Akron, so its hardness is Akron’s, which is real but modest.

What’s in Stow water
Stow gets its water from the City of Akron Water Supply Bureau, which draws from the Upper Cuyahoga River.
Stow doesn’t make its own water. Akron treats it at the Lake Rockwell plant, and Stow’s report shows no softening of its own. So the hardness in Stow’s report is Akron’s, copied line for line. It’s real hardness, but it’s modest. The results Stow prints under its own name are about its pipes. Its list of service lines shows no lead lines. We did spot one line in Stow’s copy of the table that doesn’t match Akron’s. It looks like a digit got dropped in the copy. If anyone shows you that line to sell you a filter, read Akron’s first. Cuyahoga Falls is right next door, but its water is different. A softener setting from a house there won’t fit a house here.
