Water treatment add-ons

Extras that solve one specific problem. You don’t need these to have good water — you add them when your water, or your household, calls for it.

Two add-ons

  • Pure Alkaline Filter

Puts the good minerals back after reverse osmosis takes everything out.

Reverse osmosis is thorough. It takes the good minerals out along with the bad.

The alkaline filter puts calcium and magnesium back. That’s what makes water taste like spring water instead of flat. It fits either reverse osmosis system.

Best for: Anyone who finds plain reverse osmosis water tastes flat

  • Whole-Home UV Purifier

Neutralises bacteria with light, not chemicals.

Ultraviolet light treats water as it comes into your home, so every tap is covered.

Nothing chemical, nothing added to your water. Especially worth it on well water, or after a boil-water notice.

Best for: Well water, or an extra layer on city water

What the add-ons are for

Minerals back, for taste

Reverse osmosis takes out the good minerals along with the bad. The alkaline filter puts calcium and magnesium back. That’s what stops the water tasting flat.

UV light, for bacteria

UV light treats bacteria. It adds nothing to your water. On a well it’s standard, and it’s worth having anywhere boil-water notices happen.

Add-on questions

How do you put minerals back into reverse osmosis water?

A small filter after the RO unit adds calcium and magnesium back. It fits either system. People ask for it when the water tastes flat. That’s a taste preference, not a problem.

Do I need an ultraviolet purifier?

On city water, almost never. Your utility already treats it. On a well it’s worth having, because nobody treats yours and nobody tests it. It’s also the usual answer after a boil-water notice.

Do I need any of these?

No. Both are extras for one problem each, and most homes never add either. We’ll tell you on the visit if your water calls for one.
